Monthly Luncheon with Sally Lieber

We invite you to join us for our monthly luncheon featuring a conversation with California State Board of Equalization Member Sally Lieber, a former state assemblymember, Mountain View city councilmember, and friend of the club. Sally will join us to discuss the current state of gun control at the local, state, and federal level.

Sally was elected to represent the BOE's Second District in 2022. District 2 is home to 10 million Californians living in 19 counties along the California coast, from Del Norte County to Ventura County. She served as Chair of the Board in 2024, Vice Chair in 2025, and is serving as Chair again in 2026. Prior to her election to the BOE, Sally served in both local and state office representing the Silicon Valley. She was elected to the Mountain View City Council in 1998, where she served as Vice Mayor and Mayor, where she implemented local tobacco control legislation, created green energy initiatives, and led efforts to preserve and create affordable housing.

In 2002, Sally was elected to the California State Assembly, later becoming only the third woman to hold the office of Speaker Pro Tempore. Her work in Sacramento included increasing California's minimum wage, expanding Cal Grants for college students, and increasing supportive housing and housing for low-income households. She also authored laws that made human trafficking a felony in California, established the Sexual Assault Victim's Bill of Rights, expanded the California Assault Weapons Ban, and extended courtroom protections for developmentally disabled and cognitively impaired victims of crime. Tickets are $30 for Current Members (paid for 2026) and $35 for Non-Members. Not sure if you're current on your dues? Send us an email. Tickets ARE refundable and/or transferable.
